About
‘Thomas Ashton Documentaries’ is a production company based in Australia. Under this title, I produce and share my own Nature Documentaries. Each video has been created independently, with my partner Sebastian Edlin supporting me throughout the production process.
The purpose of my documentaries is to bring natures magic into everyday life.
You can find information about our films on this website, and all our documentaries are free to watch on Youtube under the channel: Thomas Ashton Documentaries
My name is Tom and I am the filmmaker behind Thomas Ashton Documentaries.
Born in 1999, Northampton, England, I was raised in the small rural village of Ravensthorpe.
Growing up I had an obsession with nature & particularly the Great Barrier Reef - so I studied Marine Biology at Exeter university, and moved to Australia after graduating in March 2022.
Here I shared my love for the natural world by working as a tour guide - showing people the Great Barrier Reef & later, Mt Tamborine’s Glow Worm Caves.
Alongside my work I began filming the wildlife I saw, using the footage to create amateur nature documentaries.
Creating these documentaries is a slow and constant journey of self development. I hope you able to follow along for it.
Production Values
With each production, we follow these principles:.
Original footage - All footage shown has been shot specifically for the respective documentary, either by myself or a credited friend/partner.
No AI - All footage is 100% real & of wild species.
Accessible to all - Our documentaries will always be free to watch.
Stewardship - When filming, we will always leave the natural environment exactly as we found it.
Conservation Commitment - Each month, a portion of the revenue produced by my documentaries will be donated to conservation focused initiatives. That way you can do good simply by watching!
